Jennifer Lawrence was sent to a "tiny jail" after she got in trouble at the airport
Jennifer Lawrence’s dismissal of social decorum never fails to make us laugh. But this might be one of the most outrageous things that she’s done yet. The actress was recently a guest on The Graham Norton Show and revealed that she was once detained in airport jail!
Here’s how it all went down: Many moons ago, J.Law traveled to England to audition for X-Men: First Class. She was in a bit of a pickle, as her passport was due to expire soon, and she didn’t have a work visa. What’s a girl to do? Lie to customs about why she was visiting, OF COURSE. But do you really think that Jennifer Lawrence could just tell a little fib without things getting out of hand? Of course not.
“They were like, ‘Whatever you do, don’t tell them that you’re here for work, because they’ll ask for a work visa; say you’re here for pleasure,’” Jennifer said. “And I’m like, ‘Oh my! Good God! I have to lie to a customs officer.’”
The actress created an elaborate backstory to explain why she was traveling. She said she was attending her brother’s wedding, and even kept her cool answering basic questions, like where the fake ceremony was being held (Wimbledon). But things quickly went south when she admitted she didn’t have an invitation. Customs asked if she was lying, and she confessed.
“I had to sit in a tiny little jail for like five hours, while they called my employer,” J.Law admitted. “I felt tiny.”
Somehow this doesn’t surprise us. In fact, it makes us love Jennifer Lawrence even more. Lesson learned: Don’t lie at customs, or you’ll have to sit in airport jail like J-Law.
