Here's what these two "13 Reasons Why" stars want to see in Season 2
We’re not the only ones with a wish list of things we want to see happen in Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why. In fact, Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay, and Katherine Langford, who plays Hannah, recently revealed that they, too, have certain storylines that they’d like to see revisited.
Luckily, the news has come in that 13 Reasons Why *will* be returning to Season 2. Despite the show’s popularity, there had been some speculation about whether or not we’d get to return to Liberty High School, even if the show’s creators had teased the fact that they were already looking ahead.
The news was finally confirmed by executive producer Selena Gomez over the weekend that the show would be returning in 2018.
While we certainly have our own questions about what could happen next (seriously, look at all these cliffhangers), both Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford spoke to E! News, and they also shared their wishes for Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why.
“Personally, I would be interested to see…more discussion into what’s happening afterwards. It’s interesting in the first season we get to see what the characters go through post-Hannah’s death,” Langford said. “I think Jessica has a really interesting story to tell—and recovery to make.”
Indeed, at the end of Season 1 of the teen drama, we saw Jessica finally address what she had been through, and open up to her father. We’re sure that the show will explore the complicated repercussions of that, and follow Jessica as she comes to terms with what happened.
On the flip side, Dylan Minnette hopes that, when the show returns, there will be a few more smiles.
“Well, there were smiles…there will be some smiles…there will be some tears,” he teased. “So I am just excited to see what they’re writing up for us.”
“People that have talked to me have said that it’s really helped them out with their friends,” Minnette said. “It’s really amazing the responses from people…you know, nobody’s thoughts or opinions are invalid because there’s no invalid thoughts about it. But I’m just glad that it’s bringing these discussions to the mainstream — they really haven’t been before enough. I’m just glad we reached our goal in that sense.”
Echoing these sentiments, Langford added:
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Netflix were set to add extra trigger warnings to 13 Reasons Why following the backlash. We’re sure, given the sensitive subject matters that we’re expecting Season 2 will handle, Netflix will continue doing the same when the show returns in 2018.
