It didn’t take much for Ed Sheeran to win us over. Thanks to his moppy red hair, twinkling blue eyes, poetic lyricism and guitar-strumming soul, Ed had us wrapped around his finger after the first note of “The A Team,” back in 2011. Since then, we’ve sung along to every chart-topping single, cherished his every food-loving tweet, and even made a conscious effort to bring back the word “snazzy” (his goal for 2015).

Seeing as though today is his 24th birthday (so young! so full of life!), we thought we’d get back to the basics and celebrate with one of his most impressive performances to date (and no, we’re not talking about last night’s Stevie Wonder tribute with Beyoncé . . . although that was impressive too). We’re talking about this stripped-down performance at the Ruby Sessions from July of last year.

Aside from bringing his music back to beautiful, acoustic simplicity, he seamlessly covers Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” and Dr. Dre’s “Next Episode”. Need I say more?

Happy birthday, Ed! Hope you have a “snazzy” day! Did I just embarrass myself?
