Which "Grey's Anatomy" character does Shonda Rhimes regret killing off?
There have been so many epic, iconic, and devastating episodes of Grey’s Anatomy that it’s hard for us to pick our favorites. Of course, there’s a lot of death in show, and it’s totally understandable that, after 13 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Shonda Rhimes would have some regrets when it comes to the characters that were given the chop (sometimes literally).
While Grey’s is currently in it’s 13th season, and proving that it’s still one of the best shows on TV, we often feel nostalgic for the OG days of Season 1 and 2, specifically when the hospital was called Seattle Grace and Meredith, Alex, George (😩), Izzie (😩), and Christina (😢) were all interns.
In fact, it seems what we’re not the only ones who were feeling pretty nostalgic for the early days of Grey’s Anatomy. In a #throwback feature with Entertainment Weekly, the show’s creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes revisited one of the show’s most famous and iconic episodes, the bomb in the body two-parter from Season 2. You might remember that the second episode, “As We Know It,” premiered after the Super Bowl back in 2006 (AS IF IT WAS 11 YEARS AGO), and it was pretty dramatic.
Discussing how the episode came together and what it was like to film, Rhimes revealed that there was actually one character from the episode that she regrets killing off: Dylan from the bomb squad.
Speaking to EW, Ellen Pompeo recalled how she felt that Kyle Chandler (who played Dylan) was “amazing.” This kicked off a whole recollection for Rhimes.
Of course, Kyle Chandler has since gone on to become a pretty well known face in Hollywood, so things probably worked out quite well for him. Also, he’ll always be remembered as one of Grey’s Anatomy‘s most iconic guest stars, too.
Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy continues Thursdays on ABC.
