Um, guys? Were we the only ones who felt like we were being Inception-ed when Doyle made his grand entrance on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life? Because last time we saw Doyle, he was the former Yale Daily News editor who was ready and willing to do anything and everything for on-her-way-to-med-school Paris.

And now? Doyle has taken his writing skills to Hollywood as a screenwriter, which is apparently what led to the end of his marriage to Paris. “Frankly it was over the minute he wanted to do something creative,” Paris told Rory, adding,

Why does this matter, you ask?

Well, Danny Strong (the actor who plays Doyle) is a screenwriter IRL, making this plot point as meta as meta can be. Specifically, Danny has written Lee Daniels’ The Butler and the last two Hunger Games movies. Oh! And he, ya know, casually co-created, produced, and wrote the hit show Empire. So yeah, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that Danny is as successful as his character (who spends his free time playing Snooker with Michael Bay, of course).

Now, was Doyle’s career inspired by the man who plays him? That, we do not know. But is it likely? Why yes, it is.

The only question we have left is this: Will there be a 6th Transformers movie because of Doyle? Only time (and possibly a re-revival?) will tell…
