In the next few years, big changes are coming to Disney’s Jungle Cruise attraction, and we all have The Rock to thank for that — because if Walt Disney can’t design any more rides for us, it might as well be one the world’s biggest movie stars.
In between making dozens of movies (and starring in an HBO TV show), Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has fit “redesign The Jungle Cruise” into his busy schedule. While you might think this is something completely out of the blue, it’s not like, super out of the blue. Johnson is actually attached to star in a live-action movie based off of the Jungle Cruise ride. Schwitzer Falls probably included.
And well, since Johnson loves to be as extra as possible — and listen, we love him for it — instead of just starring in the movie, he’s taking his involvement to the next level and will actually “help re-engineer and re-design the JungleCruise ride in all the Disney theme parks around the world.”
In a lengthy Instagram post, Johnson revealed that he and his producing partner, Dany Garcia, recently got to visit the Disney Vault (location: Top Secret).
Johnson is no stranger to the ride, having just recently visited Disney World and took the Irrawaddy Irma out for a spin around on the water.
But, anyone with 4 days of on-the-job training can drive a Jungle Cruise boat around the rivers of Asia, Africa and South America. Designing it, though? That’s another story.
Just like how Pirates of the Caribbean inspired the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, and then the movie then re-inspired the ride, that’s probably what’s going to happen here. Elements from Johnson’s movie will make their way into the four different Jungle Cruise locations around the world, and we have Johnson as a Skipper to guide us there.
But now, cross your fingers and hope that in the near future Jungle Cruise includes at least one audio-animatronic The Rock. Can you imagine??
