When we were kids, Disney movies made us feel like we could do anything. We could go on quests, we could save the world, we could fall in love and ride magic carpets through the stars. We might not have consciously realized it then but there was a whole lot of inspiration packed into those animated movies. Now that we’re older (wiser?), it‘s easy to forget that tucked in those kid-friendly films are lots of important messages that still ring true — and that perhaps, we should pay attention to now more than ever. Here are some of our very favorite inspiring quotes from the Disney movies we love. Quotes that are sure remind you what the world looked like through your hopeful, imaginative, inspired kid-eyes; no matter how grown up you’ve gotten.

Rapunzel, Tangled

“Venture outside your comfort zone. The rewards are worth it.”

Mickey Mouse

“To laugh at yourself is to love yourself.”

The Emperor, Mulan

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.”

Rafiki, The Lion King

“Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or . . . learn from it.”

Flik (to Dot), A Bug’s Life

“Everything that made that giant tree is already contained inside this tiny little seed. All it needs is some time, a little bit of sunshine and rain, and voilá! Now, you might not feel like you can do much now, but that’s just because, well, you’re not a tree yet. You just have to give yourself some time. You’re still a seed.”

Happy, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

“You’re never too old to be young.”

Elsa, Frozen

“It’s funny how some distance makes everything seem small. And the fears that once controlled me can’t get to me at all!”

Tiana, The Princess and the Frog

“I remember daddy told me ‘fairytales can come true.’ But you’ve got to make them happen, it all depends on you!”

The Muses (to Megara), Hercules

“Girl, don’t be proud. It’s okay, you’re in love.”

Mufasa, The Lion King

“Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become.”

Fairy Godmother, Cinderella

“Even miracles take a little time.”

Christopher Robin, Winnie The Pooh

“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Pocahontas, Pocahontas

“You think the only people who are people, are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you’ll learn things you never knew you never knew.“

Gusteau, Ratatouille

“If you focus on what you left behind, you will never be able to see what lies ahead. Now go up and look around!”

Piglet and Eeyore (to Pooh), Winnie the Pooh

“If everybody were like everybody else, how boring it would be. The things that make me different are the things that make me, me!”
