The ladies of Destiny's Child are reportedly reuniting, and we are jumpin', jumpin'
If you grew up on The Writing’s on the Wall and Survivor, lip-synced “Independent Women,” and “Say My Name” in every car, to every boombox, whenever you had the chance, then this Destiny’s Child news might make you bust out your very best happy dance moves. Are you ready? OK. Beyonce, Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland are allegedly going on a reunion tour AND recording a new album, according to both VH1 and The Daily Mail.
BUT, there’s just one thing. The Destiny’s Child crew won’t be performing under the name “Destiny’s Child.” According to VH1, they wouldn’t be able to regroup as Destiny’s Child without involving Yonce’s dad and former manager, Matthew Knowles (who apparently owns 1/4 of the group and its profits). VH1 claims, “In order to tour and record an album without owing Knowles a dime, the group can’t use the name Destiny’s Child.” (The group’s members have parted ways with Mr. Knowles.) To put it lightly, it’s complicated.
The members of the trio—who haven’t publicly confirmed a reunion tour—are slowly resurfacing and warming up their vocal chords. The ladies performed together at the Stellar Gospel Awards in Vegas last weekend, and two years ago for the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans. We seriously can’t wait to see what comes next!
But in the meantime, let’s look at some old-school Destiny’s Child pics, because one should never (EVER) forget those glorious, matching outfits (which Bey’s mom designed!).
We miss you ladies! We’re ready for the reunion!
