Surprise! In a collaboration we never saw coming, Coldplay have teamed up with The Chainsmokers, and their song together is LIT.

Despite having only just released their last single “Paris” a few weeks ago, there’s no stopping electronic music duo The Chainsmokers. Given that they had two of the biggest songs of last year, “Closer” featuring Halsey and “Don’t Let Me Know” featuring Daya, the former of which was number one for 11 weeks (if not more, it all blurs into one), and how they picked up the Grammy for Best Dance Recording, it’s seems only sensible that LOADS of acts would be lining up to work with the hitmakers.

However, we never expected melancholic rockers Coldplay to be the first in line!

Unveiling the song yesterday, it was reveal that The Chainsmokers had teamed up with Coldplay on the track “Something Just Like This.”

Blending the stadium sized pianos and melodies of Coldplay’s usual material, the track slowly builds until you reach that almost signature drop that The Chainsmokers continue to deliver. We never thought we’d say this, but Chris Martin’s soft and tender vocal kinda works against the EDM of The Chainsmokers.

Listen to “Something Just Like This” below.

What’s more, the two groups made the debut performance of the song at yesterday’s BRIT Awards in London, England, where Coldplay’s Chris Martin also gave a tribute to the late George Michael. false

The track is another taste of The Chainsmoker’s upcoming debut album, titled ‘Memories…Do Not Open’, which is expected for release on April 7th. The album is set to include the hit single “Paris,” along with 10 never-before-heard songs. We wonder what other collaborations the pair have up their sleeves?
