On June 11th, The Voice star and YouTuber Christina Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs after a show in Orlando, FLorida. Her death was shocking and senseless, and admirers like Adam Levine and Selena Gomez paid tribute to the incredible singer on social media and public gestures. But before she won hearts on The Voice, Christina had also been a YouTube sensation whose first video went up in 2009. By 2016, she had gained over three million subscribers.

Her voice was incredible, and her heart even more impressive. Many members of the YouTube community were with her from the start and people like John Green, Zoella, Tyler Oakley and Jenna Marbles took to Twitter to express their sadness at her passing, and our hearts are breaking all over again:

These are just some of many YouTube creators who are saddened by Christina’s passing. This is a such a loss for the online community who is made up of some of her very first fans who were so excited for what was to come, both on The Voice and well beyond.

Christina Grimmie’s passion and personality are immortalized in her videos, and in the memories we all share, both from the internet and the stage, and we’ll never forget her.
