Some 37 years ago today, The Neverending Story book was published. There have been a number of adaptations over the years, but the most iconic, of course, is the 1984 film of the same name that many of us grew up with.
Back then, young bookworm Bastian introduced us all to the magical world of The Neverending Story and we followed the quest of Atreyu right alongside him with pure delight.
Who DIDN’T want a luck dragon?!
And one of the most iconic characters Atreyu met on his adventures (although they kind of all were, tbh) was the Childlike Empress (aka “Moonchild”). Her innocently sweet face and soft-spoken voice enchanted us all and we couldn’t help but kinda want to be her, too, right?!
Well, it’s been a while since we’ve seen the Childlike Empress (played by Tami Stronach), so we decided to check in with her.
Here’s Tami as the Childlike Empress back in 1984 in “The Neverending Story.”
And here’s Tami today.
Way happier than when The Nothing was destroying her castle in “The Neverending Story.”
Tami did not continue to act for very long as a kid, however, she went on to become a very accomplished dancer and choreographer and formed her own company, Tami Stronach Dance (TSD), in 2000. Today, she is also the Chief Executive Director of the Paper Canoe Theater Company.
