If you haven’t been following sports, then you might not know that the final games of professional baseball this year are a BIG DEAL. So big that the Chicago Cubs wrote World Series excuse notes for fans, so they can watch the final game tonight. You see, the Chicago Cubs haven’t been in the World Series in 74 years. So when they made it the World Series this year, everyone went NUTS. Now, they’re playing the Cleveland Indians, and if they win, it will be the first time the Cubs have won a World Series in 108 years.

Naturally, everyone wants to watch the game tonight, so the Cubs have created this perfect excuse note.

Here’s what it says:

“To Whom It May Concern:

Please excuse ______________ from class/work/other responsibility on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016.
The Chicago Cubs are playing Game 7 of the World Series, and if you are not familiar with sports narratives … well, it’s kind of a big deal.
We need all the support we can muster up, and ______________ has been an integral part of our fan base for ___ days/weeks/months/years, and we cannot #FlyTheW without them.
Thank you so much for understanding, and if you ever need a cute GIF tweeted at you, we are your Twitter account.
Respectfully yours,
@Cubs”

Naturally, Cubs fans from all over the country are freaking out that their team has a shot to win their first World Series in over 100 years.

With that kind of enthusiasm, it’s hard not to get excited.

Game 7 airs tonight on Fox at 8PM Eastern and 5PM Pacific.

We sure hope their excuse note works, because now we really want to watch!
