Carol Burnett and Amy Poehler's show cast its male lead, and it's a role fit for a king
ICYMI, a new ABC pilot is in the works from two of our favorite funny female actresses. And now, they are mid-casting. The lastest? Carol Burnett and Amy Poehler’s show cast its male lead, according to Deadline Hollywood, and it’s a role fit for a king. And, yes, that “king” is none other than Timothy Omundson, aka King Richard from ABC’s musical series Galavant.
Btw, if you haven’t seen Galavant, go watch it rn. We’re still sad Galavant was cancelled last year, but that doesn’t mean some binge-watching isn’t in order! You may also remember Omundson from shows like Psych and Judging Amy. Here he is in Galavant.
But back to Burnett and Poehler’s pilot, Household Name. The 4-1-1?
It’s a multi-camera sitcom starring Burnett and executive produced by Amy Poehler via her Paper Kite production banner. It’s about a family who has found the house of their dreams. However, it comes with a catch: They have to let its eccentric owner, Vivian (Burnett), stay…for the rest of her life (!).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Omundson will play Edward Von Glimpse, Vivian’s gay best friend/confidant.
Okay, is anyone else as excited as we are to see it?
All you had to say was “Amy Poehler” and “Carol Burnett” — and especially together — and we’re on board. But now with Omundson, too? Yesssss, please. Though there’s no word if Poehler will star in it, we certainly hope. A girl can dream, right?!
In case you’re wondering, Michael Saltzman wrote the pilot. With credits from writing on shows like Murphy Brown and Mad Men, we have no doubt Household Name will be full of LOLs, too. We. Can’t. Wait.
