Camila Cabello just shared the emotional video for "Crying in the Club," and it's filled with surprises
After announcing the song last week, Camila Cabello has shared the video for her debut solo single “Crying in the Club,” and it’s not exactly what we expected.
As reported yesterday, the song features a #throwback in the shape of an ode to Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle,” and things get pretty emotional, fast. The singer has been teasing the song and the video over on her social media channels, and she recently shared a powerful essay about her experiences since leaving Fifth Harmony and how she felt “broken” before going in to write her debut album.
Now, Camila Cabello has shared the hotly anticipated video for her song “Crying in the Club,” and it features a surprise.
The clip opens not with “Crying in the Club,” but with another new track, “I Have Questions.”
The singer had previously teased the song in her personal essay, admitting that it had helped her realize where she wanted to go with her solo music and allowed her to be open about how she was feeling.
The video then shifts to show Camila enter a club and attempt to dance away her demons. The track, which was co-written by Sia, is a perfect club banger, and bears some resemblance to the mega hit “Cheap Thrills.”

Can you hear that Xtina #throwback? Omg, our ’90s hearts just can’t take it.
In her essay written to her fans, Camila also revealed her album title, The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving, and explained the meaning behind the title.
“i realized i wasn’t making music just to make an album anymore, i was making this music to heal. it wasn’t until i had made enough songs to listen back to and realized i could hear myself coming back through these songs,” she wrote. “i didn’t write it with the intention of delivering a message, but i realized the message was in the hurting, the healing, and the loving.”
Meanwhile, Camila Cabello is expected to perform at the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday. It’s unclear yet whether the singer will debut “Crying in the Club” or “I Have Questions.”
