When the musical Rent hit Broadway in 1996, nobody knew just how successful it would be. The show ran for twelve years, growing an intense fanbase and even spinning off into a movie in 2005. In the years since, the movie has been our only option if we wanted to see (most) of the gang back in action. However, according to Playbill, the original cast members will reunite early next year, and we can’t wait.

This reunion will take place at BroadwayCon, which is exactly what it sounds like. This convention for musical theater enthusiasts runs January 22nd through January 24th in New York City, featuring panels, concerts, and opportunities to meet the cast.

Cast members Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, and Daphne Rubin-Vega will be joined by choreographer Marlies Yearby, conductor Tim Weil, original casting director Bernard Telsey, and many more to reminisce on this groundbreaking show and, hopefully, give us a little taste of what we’ve been missing. I’m sure the panel table would be strong enough for a quick rendition of “La Vie Boheme” because, to be honest, it just wouldn’t be a Rent reunion without it.

The panel takes place on January 22nd at 7:30pm, and tickets are available here!
