An actual Los Pollos Hermanos is coming to Albuquerque, and it's every "Breaking Bad" fan's dream come true
Breaking Bad might be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the iconic Walter White with some Los Pollos Hermanos fried chicken.
That’s right, the restaurant is coming back to life for the show’s 10th anniversary with the help of two fans. Though the resurrected Los Pollos won’t be a front for a meth lab, it will (hopefully) sell fried chicken.
The venue itself is Twisters, a burger and burrito joint in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The eatery stood in for the fictional fried chicken restaurant during the show’s five-season run. Thanks to local residents Edward Candelaria and Marq Smith, Twisters will transform into Los Pollos Hermanos for a limited time on January 20th. (The show originally premiered on January 20th, 2018.)
“We’re going to look like Los Pollos Hermanos. We’ll have the sign. All the cashiers will be wearing yellow shirts, the aprons and hats,” general manager Reuben Zaragoza told local outlet KRQE.
In the show, Los Pollos Hermanos serves as a cover for Gustavo Fring’s (played by Giancarlo Esposito) crystal meth empire. Bryan Cranston’s Walter White ends up working for the ruthless Gus as a “cook,” and, well, you can imagine how that turned out.
Coincidentally, Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul is currently filming in Albuquerque.
Candelaria and Smith even offered to feed the cast for free.
This isn’t the first time someone went all-out to honor Breaking Bad.
In 2015, a Breaking Bad-inspired coffee shop selling test-tube drinks and “blue meth” cupcakes opened in Istanbul. That same year, a Breaking Bad-styled cocktail lab opened in London, offering thematic beverages in honor of the show.
For those of you who need even more of the show in your life, a Breaking Bad virtual reality experience is in the works at Sony PlayStation. While there aren’t many details yet, it’s part of a larger push to incorporate more pop culture into Sony games.
