If you’re as big on reading as we are here at HelloGiggles, than summer is just as much about good books as it is sunbathing, outdoor concerts, and busting out our denim cutoffs. Between beach and pool time, as well as traveling to weekend getaways, there’s plenty of time to get through a bunch of good reads.

But possibly the hardest part of being an avid reader is deciding which book to read next—top-seller lists and friend recommendations only get you so far. And maybe you tend to pick up the same genre every time you visit a bookstore. Book clubs can sometimes coax you out of your literary comfort zone, but if you’re only meeting once every month or two, you probably need some more reading material than that.

Enter POPSUGAR’s Reading Challenge 2016. We stumbled upon this 40-book reading list that recommends books of different categories to add to your must-reads this year, and we just had to share. Don’t expect to find specific titles and authors, but topics like “a book translated to English,” “a book about a culture you’re unfamiliar with,” and “a book at least 100 years older than you” are sure to broaden your intellectual horizons. There’s also fun ones like “a book with a blue cover” and “a book based on a fairy tale” that let you get a little creative.

And since we unabashedly love crossing things off lists, getting through this reading challenge sounds WAY more exciting than our college’s assigned reading. (Although, self-proclaimed nerds that we are, we loved our school summer reading lists, too.)

So take a look at the list below, and decide if you’re on board. We enjoy a good challenge and a good book, so what’s not to love about this?
