It’s July 31st, or, as fans of the Harry Potter books know it, HP’s birthday! The Boy Who Lived would theoretically turn 36 this year, and many Instagram users are celebrating in a totally impressive way: Harry Potter cakes!

Some of these incredible confections were created for the birthdays or special occasions of fans of the series; some honor The Boy Who Lived himself. Either way, they’re striking homages to the beloved book series.

The first cake gives us the torso, wand, and infamous spectacles of the beloved boy wizard himself.

Then, a collection of delightful cupcakes feature the Sorting Hat, a Snitch, Harry Potter’s initials, and his broomstick.

Another impressive cake features Hermione’s infamous line, “It’s Levi-o-sa, not Levi-o-sa!” printed in a textbook. The quote is accompanied by physical representations of a Gryffindor scarf, as well as a wand, a Snitch, and Harry’s glasses.

An incredibly gorgeous birthday cake for someone named Sally features the Hogwarts crest, and is covered in a delicately designed Marauder’s Map. This fantastic birthday cake is topped with a broomstick, a Snitch, and a ticket to platform 9 ¾.

One very original confection is modeled after the Monster Book of Monsters, a tome that appears in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and clearly has a mind of its own.

Finally, an impressive model cake is a tall, towering form. It showcases a small but detailed Hogwarts perched atop Advanced Transfiguration, Quidditch Through the Ages, and The Standard Book of Spells.

All of these cakes are phenomenal; however, you can also celebrate Harry’s birthday in a more low key manner; we, for example, will be holding up our glasses and saying in hushed voices: “To Harry Potter- the boy who lived!”
