A really good book can change the way you think about the world, and if you’re currently in the market for an inspirational read, there’s no better option than the book Britney Spears is currently reading. The pop star posted a picture of the book she’s reading this weekend, Daring Greatly by Brené Brown, and seemed to really be getting into the overall message, which is all about being vulnerable.
Usually, we tend to think of being vulnerable as a bad thing — opening up to others and sharing the things that are important to us can be hard. But being vulnerable, in Brown’s opinion, is the only way to really connect with other people. Because when you’re vulnerable, you’re actually just strong AF and capable of just telling the world, “Yup, this is me, whaddya got, what can I give?”
If you need a little pick me up this season, this read by Brown is the way to go. It’s a pretty empowering message.
If reading isn’t totally your thing, you can join Britney on her journey by watching Brown’s TedTalks on the topic. If you’ve never heard her speak, prepare to be floored.
Oprah loves Brown, too (because Oprah loves all good things). You can find Brown and Oprah dishing about life on Super Soul Sundays or sign up for Brown’s life-class on learning how to be vulnerable through Oprah’s website. Because learning how to be vulnerable is complex enough to warrant a syllabus.
As for Spears, she is currently doing a residency in Las Vegas that’s actually breaking records. Right now, it’s the most expensive ticket in Sin City, which is a pretty big deal. She’s also going to embark on a world tour pretty soon.
With all that good stuff going on, the fact that Spears is making time for some self-care is very good news. Being that busy can take a lot out of a woman. Considering that Spears has lived most of her life in the spotlight and gone through a lot in the public eye, it’s nice to know that our fave is just like us.
It takes a lot of guts and a lot of work to make some self-improvement tweaks. If anyone knows about “daring greatly,” it’s obviously Britney. Excuse us while we go order her current read.
