In some of the more (delightfully) surprising entertainment news we’ve ever read, the Black Eyed Peas are currently at work on a zombie comic called Masters of the Sun. The group is producing the graphic novel for Marvel, so it’s like, no big deal or anything.

It’ll be illustrated by Benjamin Jackendoff and Damion Scott, who have created the art for some lil’ projects like BatmanBatgirl, and Spiderman (again, no big deal). But the story itself comes from the Black Eyed Peas’ frontman,

Masters of the Sun will be set in a futuristic world, where Los Angeles is under attack by aliens and humans are morphing into zombies.

Basically, it sounds like a mash-up of all the things we love, PLUS the main character has a “penchant for hip hop,” so we’re super excited to read what sounds like an incredibly high-budget Black Eyed Peas music video in graphic novel form.

As Marvel editor Axel Alonso told Billboard:

In an Instagram post, explained why he ultimately decided to present the project to Marvel, a company he never thought would take on Masters of the Sun. “Because I just saw my friend beat cancer I realized anything is possible,” he wrote. “So we took a meeting with Marvel and shared with them our project/property/world and story and the rest is history.”

It’s always exciting to mesh different art forms in new and exciting ways, and this definitely has us buzzing. We’re also deeeeefinitely looking out for the future Marvel blockbuster based on this because HELLO summer movie of our dreams… Can’t wait to read this baby when it drops!
