Soooo, Beyonce and Jay-Z are living in the mansion from 'The Big Lebowski'
For some reason, Beyonce being a huge The Big Lebowski fan just makes our hearts happy. It just seems right: one of our idols loving one of our fave movies. It was pretty obvious Bey had a soft spot for the movie when she sampled Julianne Moore’s “Do you like sex?” monologue on her album last year, but now, she and Jay-Z have stepped their admiration up a notch. . . by being the official new tenants of the mansion featured in the movie.
The fab mansion, located in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles, used to be owned by former LA Dodgers owner Frank McCourt. Last year, for $45 million, he sold it to a British billionaire. . . who *just* beat out Bey and Jay. But the power couple said to each other, “This aggression will not stand, man,” and bided their time. . . until the billionaire decided to rent it out because he wasn’t using it much. Naturally, they jumped on it, and they signed a lease for one year.
So what does it cost to rent out a famous and luxurious mansion? $150,000 a month. You may think that’s pretty pricey, but that’s just, like, your opinion, man. Plus, maybe it actually came with *the* rug. . . and a lifetime supply of White Russians. Oh, and it’s probably worth noting that the mansion is 20,000 square feet, complete with an indoor Olympic-sized pool, an outdoor pool with a waterfall, and formal gardens.
So, yeah, we’ll be over here listening to Beyonce’s tribute to The Dude, envisioning the pair walking around the mansion muttering “Her life is in your hands.” And if you’re suddenly forgetting what the inside of the mansion looks like, check out this clip. Or just watch the whole movie, because LBH, we’re all looking for an excuse to rewatch it 24/7.
