I recently followed Janelle Silver on Instagram, and my feed has become a much happier place ever since. She’s an artist who makes colorful, whimsical illustrations, handmade cards, digital collages, and more. Just taking a glance at her colorful homepage tells you you’re in for a treat. She also has a recurring message for followers: that none of us are alone.

Throughout her feed, she features fantastic watercolors of sea creatures, posts photos of mental health-related temporary tattoos on her inner wrists, features fantastically crisp, colorful digital collages, and even posts the occasional animated video. She’s also often very open in her captions about topics like mental health, kindness, and relationships — to be frank, she’s wonderful.

Often, her captions describe the minutia of her day, including any thoughts she’s struggled with. They sometimes seem like little diary entries, and her transparency is illuminating. She encourages followers to be kind to themselves, as well as to others, and to be compassionate and caring, as none of us know what other people may be going through. Sometimes, these messages come from a cutely-drawn planet Jupiter, and other times they come from your “daily dose of truth.” However Janelle is dishing out positivity, I’ll take it.

Here are some of my favorite images from her Instagram:
