Last night during the midseason finale of Gotham, superhero fans got a treat they never saw coming: a sneak peak of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before the full trailer airs tomorrow on Jimmy Kimmel. The clip may only be 50 seconds, but it’s so intense that we can barely wrap our heads around what’s going on.

So far, we know the film depicts the rivalry between Batman and Superman, specifically, Batman’s mission to keep Superman in check. However, we had no idea it would be so dark. This sneak peak shows Batman (played by Ben Affleck) tied up underground, along with what looks like a few other people. When Superman appears (played by Henry Cavill), he looks an awful lot like a villain, which is not comforting.

We won’t know much more until the release of the trailer, and we have to wait even longer for the film to come out on March 25, 2016. However, I think we can safely say that we’re hooked, and already shoveling popcorn into our mouths in anticipation.
