No, this isn’t Lifetime airing back-to-back showings of The Devil Wears Prada on some Wednesday night. This is actual Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway jumping to the small-screen to star in a new TV show. But then again, who are we kidding? Any screen that Hathaway is on is a BIG screen.

Hathaway will star in The Ambassador’s Wife, which will be adapted from Jennifer Steil‘s book of the same name. The story is loosely based on Steil’s own life and takes place in a fictional Middle Eastern country. The story focuses on “the brutal kidnapping of an American woman living with her diplomat husband . . . and the heartbreaking choices each must make in the hopes of being reunited.” If you’re wondering why you haven’t picked up this book and binge-read it yet, it’s because it was only first published a month ago. At least there’s still time left to cram in one last read before the end of summer.

Here’s how author Steil broke the news to fans:

Along with starring in the limited TV series, Hathaway is also going to produce it. And where can you check out the show? Good question! That hasn’t been figured out yet. Usually new shows go into production already attached to a network (but still often get shuffled around in the end). The Ambassador’s Wife has no network attached, which means it could end up in a prime time lineup, on HBO, or even on Netflix. From its heavy content, it’ll more than likely end up with along the lines of the latter two, but TV loves to surprise us.

And if you’re suddenly thinking about Hathaway snagging the E in an EGOT, she’s already beat you to it. Not only does she have an Oscar for Les Misérables, but an Emmy for voice-over work on The Simpsons. So what we’ve really gotta focus on is getting her a Tony and a Grammy. But baby steps first. She’ll take over TV and then head to Broadway.
