Old Navy

Old Navy’s brand and advertisements are consistently hilarious and zeitgeisty. In the past, they’ve cast genius comedians like Amy Poehler as an Anna Wintour-esque art critic, Elizabeth Banks as an overzealous dress-enthusiast, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a glamorous but out-of-touch mom. All of the over-the-top ads hilariously feature Old Navy clothes as the answers to the characters’ problems, and they always end up rushing to a store to buy jeans or dresses.

Now, Amy Schumer is joining the ranks of Poehler, Banks, and Louis-Dreyfus in Old Navy’s newest set of commercials.

She plays a hilariously incompetent aunt who is babysitting her niece and nephew. She doesn’t know what to do with them and calls another child (who is somehow her friend) and, based on his advice, takes the kids to Old Navy, all the while begging them to recognize her as the cool aunt that she is.

Amy acts alongside a number of other famous celebrities in the ad. All the children are YouTube stars, and one, Skai Jackson, is a Disney Channel star with an Instagram following of 2.5 million. The ad is one of a series of 8 total ads that Amy will do for Old Navy; the remaining 7 will be released over the next few months.

Amy’s Instagram personality perfectly matches the one she portrays in the ad. We love her self-deprecation and genuine weirdness paired with her confidence and brilliance.

Based on her down to earth, fun loving personality, we would love the chance to hang out with Amy! Where was she when we needed babysitters as kids?
