Before either of them moved on to the big time, Amanda Seyfried and Bella Thorne played Bill Paxton’s daughters on HBO’s Big Love. And, following his sudden death following heart surgery on Saturday, February 25th, both are speaking out about how much this “father figure” meant to them.

“He was an amazing and supportive father-figure to me in my early career,” Seyfried, who played Paxton’s rebellious teen daughter Sarah Henrickson from 2006 to 2011, told People for this week’s issue.

Thorne, who played Sarah’s little sister “Teenie” during the show’s final seasons, took to Instagram to mourn Paxton, writing that he was famous for “spreading love on every set” he worked on.

“Oh my goodness…I don’t even know what to say thank you bill for being such a good tv dad to me and spreading love on every set you work on..my thoughts and prayers go out to your family. We love you #billpaxton 💔 #rip,” she wrote.

The outpouring of grief for Paxton has been overwhelming. On Oscar night, Big Love wife #3, Ginnifer Goodwin, told Entertainment Tonight that Paxton was “more alive than the others” and “you can always see a piece of his big heart in somewhere in all of his characters — even in his villains.” Wife #2, Chloë Sevigny, called Paxton a “dear friend” and a “fearless actor” on Twitter.

It certainly sounds like Paxton was a positive presence both on set and off, and had a powerful influence on the lives of those he worked with. He will be sorely missed.
