Dream team Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer have conquered comedy, television, and our hearts. Now they’re set to take on the next logical progression, award shows. Consider this their first step towards become the next great award show duo, following nicely along behind reigning queens Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
Though these two aren’t at the Golden Globes just yet, they’re going to make waves at this year’s Gotham Independent Film Awards, which for the first time in their 25-year history are branching out to include television. So we guess it totally makes sense to have two kweens of television taking on the hosting duties.
“As huge fans of Broad City, we can’t wait to ring in 25 years of the Gothams with these funny ladies at the helm, and know their local flavor will be a unique addition to this year’s show,” Joana Vicente, executive director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP, said in a press release.
Jacobson and Glazer then added ~simultaneously~ that they, “couldn’t be more excited about hosting the Gotham Awards and are humbled to be invited by IFP.”
The only downside to this night of awards, is that the Gotham Awards don’t air live on TV. No worries! You can actually stream them online starting at 8pm on November 30th. And you know what they say: First you host the Gotham Awards, then the Golden Globes, then the Oscars, then THE WORLD. If that’s not a saying, then it should be.
