4 Short Films You Need to See
Why not take a break from your usual programming and watch some of the brilliant shorts our world has to offer? Thanks to the Internet, we have access to the latest and greatest creations, so let’s take advantage of it. I’ve included four of my personal favorites in this post. Feel free to share some of your own!
1. A Lunch Break Romance – Danny Sangra Nothing in the world is more private or honest than your innermost thoughts. But it’s perhaps the privacy of your thoughts that often get in the way of things. Watch as these two potential lovebirds judge themselves and admire each other, privately:
2. An & Ria’s #First Flight – Vodafone Firsts If this doesn’t bring a smile to your face, I don’t know what will. Technically, this is an ad for Vodafone (I know, I know), but don’t let that cloud the utter joy of this video. An & Ria are two Dutch women (both in their early 70s) who have never flown on an airplane before. Their excitement for the little things will remind you not to take life too seriously.
3. Echo – Lewis Arnold
Ready for something a bit heavier? The old “nothing is quite as it seems” adage holds true in Echo. What appears to be a tragic phone call is much more than meets the eye…or a lot less. I’ll let you decide:
4. Needle – Anahita Ghazvinizadeh
When you think about the complications of ear piercing, chances are you imagine infected earlobes or lopsided stud earrings. For Lilly, these cosmetic complications are just the tip of the iceberg. This film follows her as she endures [what appears to be] the divorce of her parents, all while accomplishing the task of getting her ears pierced.
This film won the Cinefondation Award at Cannes (2013) and the Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival (2013).
