Renée Zellweger has some things she’d like to say about the third ‘Bridget Jones’ movie
There are so many things to be excited about when it comes to all things pop culture, but there’s one specific movie that’s at the top of our lists (and at the center of our hearts): Bridget Jones’ Baby. That would explain why we’re clinging on to every bit of Bridget Jones-related news we can get our hands on.
The most recent report: Renée Zellweger herself has opened up about what it’s like re-exploring this role from her past. “I’m having a good time,” the actress told E!. “It’s really a nice reunion with old friends. And it’s always wonderful to be back in London and I love this character so it’s been a real treat to get to revisit it again.” (And it’s a real treat for us as well, tbh.)
We also love that Zellweger refers to filming as a “reunion with old friends.” Just picture it: Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth reuniting in a blaze of cinematic glory. Unfortunately, Hugh Grant is not returning for the third installment and won’t be a part of this magical reunion, but they did add Patrick Dempsey to the cast (to add a bit of mystery, since we have no idea who he’s playing)!
The Bridget Jones actress also admitted that she didn’t foresee another one of these films happening in her future. Nonetheless, it seems that the third film was meant to be, which was emphasized when Zellweger proclaimed, “I’m really glad to be doing it.” (Once again, we are definitely on the same page. The joy is 100% mutual!)
Yet, it does seem that the actress has run into one difficulty along the way: her British accent. When asked if it was easy for her to return to the articulations of her past character, she laughed and admitted, “I wouldn’t say that.” Regardless, we believe in the power of Renée Zellweger and know that she will not disappoint.
It turns out that this new movie was in development for years and, just last year, the lead actress had no idea that this was being set in motion. At the same time, she did agree that it would be fun to play this iconic role once more, so dreams really do come true!
In the end, all we have to say is this: Welcome back, Bridget Jones! We are waiting for you with open arms (and pre-ordered tickets)!
