Remembering The Notorious B.I.G. on his birthday

For those of you who listen to rap and hip-hop, three initials strike right to the center of your heart: B.I.G. As The Notorious B.I.G., a name and persona as impactful and full of presence as the music he made, Christopher George Latore Wallace changed the landscape of hip-hop forever and laid down a legacy that’s still being invoked and expanded upon to this day.

On what would’ve been his 43rd birthday, fans of the Ready to Die rapper paid tribute to him on social media; over 18 years after his death. It’s clear he’s still a looming figure in the hip-hop world, with many fans remembering him as the #GOAT (Greatest Of All Time).

Wallace, whose greatest hits include “Hypnotize,” “Mo Money Mo Problems,” and the still-ubiquitous “Juicy,” was an integral part of the hip-hop scene as it began to slowly take over mainstream music. Biggie also worked with and influenced just about every major name in rap from the mid-’90s onward: Lil Kim, Jay-Z, Eminem, Game, the list goes on. Even music lovers who haven’t listened to Biggie directly have likely heard these words at one time or another: “It was all a dream . . .”
