Remembering 13-year-old YouTube star, Caleb Logan Bratayley

Last week, 13-year-old Caleb Logan “Bratayley,” the eldest son of the family whose everyday adventures captivated YouTube, passed away due to an “undetected medical condition,” according to his parents. His death comes as a shock to everyone who knew him, in person or on screen, and the family has asked for space, specifically a break from their daily videos, while they mourn his loss.

In the description of their most recent video, a 21 minute montage of their favorite Caleb memories, the family issued a statement regarding his death:

Devastated fans took to the hashtag flooding Instagram and Twitter with tributes and memories shared over the past five years.

Sharing one’s life on the Internet is unlike anything else. While it can be hard to have such personal moments shared with millions of people, there are also millions of people to lean on during these times of need.

Today, the family will honor their son by live-streaming a celebration of his life to fans on Facebook and Periscope.
