Reese Witherspoon is getting her own unscripted series — and the guest list is absolutely breattaking
As if Reese Witherspoon isn’t already one of the busiest women in Hollywood, the actress and producer just revealed she’s getting her own unscripted series that will highlight some truly incredible women.
Shine On with Reese will see the Big Little Lies actress meet with a number of incredible women breaking ground in their industries — both in Hollywood and across the country. The series will air on Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s new on-demand channel with AT&T, and will stream on DirectTV and U-verse.
The nine-episode series features conversations with a slew of incredible ladies, including Ava DuVernay, Dolly Parton, retired U.S. soccer star Abby Wambach, America Ferrara, trailblazing West Point First Captain Simone Askew, Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Elaine Welteroth, Glennon Doyle, Spanx’s Sara Blakely, Pink, and poet Cleo Wade.
The first three half-hour-long episodes of the series — featuring DuVernay, Parton, and Pink — will premiere on July 17th.
In a statement, Witherspoon expressed excitement for her new endeavor. Per Variety, the actress said, “I am thrilled to have such like-minded, creative collaborators at AT&T to help Hello Sunshine pursue our mission of elevating and showcasing the voices of women that we have such admiration and respect for.”
But while Witherspoon will be sitting down to chat with these incredible women, Shine On with Reese isn’t a talk show per se. Hello Sunshine’s head of digital media and programming Charlotte Koh told Variety that series is deliberately highlighting women Witherspoon knows personally to give the series a more informal feel, explaining: “The idea was to showcase women who have made notable achievements, but through the lens of Reese’s relationship with them. There’s truly an intimacy, where you feel like you’re crashing a coffee date with Ava and Reese.”
Umm, yes please!
The new series is just the latest project in development for Witherspoon. The actress is currently working on Season 2 of Big Little Lies, an upcoming comedy with Jennifer Aniston for Apple TV, and Legally Blonde 3.
We cannot wait to see Witherspoon’s enlightening conversations with these powerful women when Shine On with Reese premieres on July 17th.
