PSA: Reese Witherspoon’s first Draper James store is opening this fall
Hold onto your sweet tea and grab your monogrammed tote – Reese Witherspoon’s Southern lifestyle and e-commerce site Draper James is opening a brick-and-mortar store in Nashville this fall.
The southern belle (and Oscar winner!), who herself hails from Nashville, told Garden and Gun magazine that she wants the store to re-create the idea of the hospitality and friendliness of an old-school Southern department shop.
She imagines, “a gathering spot where the mom brings kids in, and you drink sweet tea while you browse.”
The store is set to open in the 12 South neighborhood and will carry Draper James’ very Southern line of dresses, cardigans, and home goods, many of which are made in the South.
Witherspoon also described the site’s aesthetic. “We call what we do ‘unapologetically pretty,’” she told the magazine. “It isn’t edgy. Or urban. It just makes you feel ready to take on the world.”
And with so many of the products sourced from small, independent artists from Savannah to Atlanta to New Orleans, Witherspoon said it’s all about Southern Pride and representing the rich tapestry that is the South.
“Southerners have such pride in their work,” she said. “I was tapping into a community that already existed.”
