Reddit’s thought-provoking theory about no one winning the Powerball and time travel

This just in: Nobody won the Powerball last night. Can you believe it?! That means there’s still a TON of money out there for the winning. According to Gary Grief, the executive director of the Texas Lottery, there were some winners. 25 players won $1 million, and three won $2 million. But the Powerball jackpot is still up for grabs!

Since nobody won the big $900 million prize, some Reddit users are convinced that this rules out the possibility of us discovering time traveling technology. And it makes total sense—if somebody in the future were to figure out time travel, they would definitely come back and play last night’s numbers. I know I would!

“Maybe inflation has gotten out of hand and time travelers are uninterested in the jackpot because $100,000,000 in the future is the equivalent of $100 today,” one Redditor suggested.

“If I was a time traveler, I’d know that it only gets bigger and I’d wait…” said another. I take back what I said before about coming back to claim the Powerball right away—THAT sounds like a plan. I would definitely wait for it to get bigger.

“What if we’re still in the real present and it hasn’t been invented yet because the future hasn’t happened? What if time traveling to the past will just end up changing our memories?” Whoa.
