The guitarist from The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a Radiohead cover live, and it was SO amazing

Everyone can appreciate a solid cover song. At a recent Red Hot Chili Peppers show, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer decided to cover a Radiohead tune that casual fans might not be familiar with. It wasn’t “Karma Police,” or even “Creep” — instead, it was “Spectre,” the song Radiohead wrote for the James Bond movie with the same title.

Why haven’t you heard it before? Well, funny story, really. After Radiohead finished writing the song, the studio actually rejected it, in favor of “Writing’s on the Wall” by Sam Smith. The band didn’t let this get them down — instead, they released the song directly to fans. Why not, right?

It’s such a solid tune, that we’re glad it saw the light of day!

Stereogum reports that Klinghoffer’s covers are nothing new — in fact, during recent shows, the band has embraced the change of pace. Prior songs he’s similarly covered include “Jack The Ripper” by Morrissey, “Five Years” by David Bowie, and “Across The Universe” by The Beatles.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently in the midst of a tour, and will be in France until the end of October. All in all, they’ll be on the road until March of next year. We can’t wait to hear what gets covered next!
