Here’s a recipe for champagne margaritas to add some fancy to your New Year’s Eve party cocktail menu

Just in time for your New Year’s Eve shindig, we present you Delish‘s recipe for champagne margaritas. It doesn’t matter if you plan to welcome 2017 in the company of family, friends and random partygoers, or if you choose to ring in the new year alone because there’s no setting in which this fancy pants cocktail won’t fit perfectly.

Unless you’ve been designated to bring non-alcoholic drinks to the party, you’ll definitely want to follow along carefully to learn how you should mix this champagne-margarita concoction because it is crucial to make it look as good as it tastes.

Honestly though, who are we kidding? It’s not like this beverage needs to look like anything special for us to guzzle it down before, during and after the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.

But let’s just pretend like presentation is equally important for the time being, k? First, we must express ALL of the  gratitude for the genius who thought to combine the spring break/happy hour/there’s a 2-for-1 deal drinking appeal of margaritas with the refinement of champagne because it honestly sounds like the best sorta-kinda fancy drink idea ever.

So here’s the recipe, and in case you got a head start on drinking your way into 2017, it’s pretty simple. Fill a pitcher with a whole damn bottle of champagne, some tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and stir. Rim the glasses with lime juice and salt, pour it up, pour it up into the champagne flutes, garnish them with lime and drink away the despair of 2016.
