Rebel Wilson Said People Treat Her Differently Now That She’s Lost Weight

"Sometimes being bigger, people didn't necessarily look twice at you."

During 2020, Rebel Wilson was very open about her healthy-living journey and her quest to shed some pounds. At the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Wilson shared with her Instagram followers that by the end of the year, she wanted to reach 165 pounds, a loss of about 40 pounds in honor of turning 40. Through diet, exercise, and healthy choices, she achieved her goal in November.

In continuing with her candidness about her weight, the Pitch Perfect star shared in a January 27th interview with The Morning Crew With Hughesy, Ed and Erin, that now that she’s reached her goal weight, people treat her differently.

Sometimes being bigger, people didn’t necessarily look twice at you, Wilson said. Now that I’m in good shape, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for you.

She continued by saying that even at her heavier weight, she was still a confident person and felt like she looked good no matter what the scale said—and we totally agree. She questioned during the interview, though, if this is how thinner people are *always* treated and she just never knew.

Wilson added that she finds it interesting how much attention people pay to others’ weights, especially celebrities,’ when there’s so much else happening in the world. It’s a sad truth that many face, especially women. When Adele revealed her stunning weight loss last year, it was all anyone could talk about—despite it being no one’s business but her own.

Even though Wilson made her weight-loss journey public, it still didn’t need to be something we analyze or criticize. The fact of the matter is that she chose to make healthier choices, and she lost weight along the way. Unfortunately she’s realizing how differently she’s treated because of it, but that’s also a sad truth of how weight is perceived.
