Rebel Wilson’s ponytail in “Pitch Perfect 3” takes layers of work, and we are impressed

We tend to think of ponytails as a fairly easy, breezy hairstyle. Brush your hair up. Secure with a band. Boom, you are good to go, girl. However, we recently found out that Rebel Wilson’s ponytail in Pitch Perfect 3 takes a LOT more work than that.

As Refinery29 reports, Wilson recently documented her whole ponytail adventure on Snapchat.

Rebel Wilson’s ponytail is a thing of great art and true beauty.

And it is, real talk, no joke to style.

First off, it requires a buttload of hair extensions, because it is the rare human woman that can grow straight-up mermaid hair out of her scalp.

Wilson’s hair person, principal PP3 hair stylist Cheryl Marks,  teases her hair and clips these bad boys in, and all of a sudden Wilson’s hair gets REAL heavy.

Once the extensions are in, Marks curls the ends of Wilson’s hair to REALLY get that ponytail looking as mermaid-y as physically possible.

Then, Marks takes one-inch sections of hair, twists them, and wraps them around the hair band. And then finishes the whole thing off with hairspray. Because if you’re going to work this hard on a hairstyle, you gosh-darn better spray it in place.

From start to finish, Rebel Wilson’s ponytail for Pitch Perfect 3 takes about an hour to style.

So much for easy-breezy hairdos.

That said, it’s not like Wilson is throwing her hair back to go get the mail or walk the dog. She’s starring in a big deal movie! She needs to look her glammest! Honestly, we’re kind of surprised it ONLY takes an hour for a movie-star-level hairstyle.

Anyway, we will be watching Rebel Wilson’s ponytail VERY carefully when PP3 comes out. With all the work that went into it, the style deserves all the respect, and we most certainly will give it!
