This woman has never, ever cut her hair. Seriously.

Tere Lynn Svetlecich Russell is being called the real-life Rapunzel and it’s pretty easy to see why. In her 43 years on earth, she has never had a haircut. Ever. Her hair, which measures in at a jawdropping 74 inches, has also never been dyed or processed in any way. In fact, Tere Lynn hadn’t even been inside a hair salon until Barcroft TV contacted her for the below video segment, and even then she just opted for styling and treatments.

She’s also passing down the tradition to her family. Tere Lynn has 3 daughters, Callan, Cendalyn, and Chesney, all three who have also never had a haircut. They each respectively boast 37 inches, 36 inches, and 27 inches of hair, all in its natural state.

Of course, it doesn’t matter how healthy your hair is — at that length, it still requires a ton of upkeep. Keeping their hair clean is a family affair, as Tere Lynn has to help her daughters wash their hair while they shower, each of whom use a quarter of a bottle of conditioner per wash.

Tere Lynn also revealed that she doesn’t wash her hair in the shower: the one time she tried, she ended up on the floor after the water weighed her hair down so heavily that she fell. She never gives a specific reason as to why she never cut her hair, but she and her daughters have won several blue ribbon awards for their long locks, which is reason enough for us.

Her youngest daughter has expressed an interest in cutting off her hair, and Tere Lynn is totally supportive. She says that she won’t force her daughters to grow their hair forever. “It’s not going to be my decision, it’s going to be theirs,” she says in the below video. “But I want them to be mature enough to make that decision for themselves.”
