A new game where you give Anna from ‘Frozen’ a C-section? Things just got really real

Great news! They finally made that Frozen game you’ve been waiting for — you know, the one that lets you give a Disney princess a Cesarean section! Oh, wait — you totally didn’t ask for that, or want anything at all like that in your life? Too bad! Because somebody is hoping to capitalize on Frozen’s success in the strangest and most unnecessary of ways: by creating an app called Anna Giving Birth. The aim of the game? Well, help her give birth, of course.

That’s right folks, if you’ve ever had the urge to give a Disney princess a C-section, complete with details like injecting her with a hypodermic needle and monitoring the baby’s heart rate, this is the app for you. It’s got everything: music, a pregnant Anna, ridiculous medical tools.

What could have possibly possessed anybody to think this was a good idea? Thank heavens it wasn’t Disney, who has no stake in the unlicensed game. Honestly, is there really a market for Frozen fans who want to slice Anna open with a scalpel, free her offspring, and cut the cord themselves? It seems impossible that any kid would think this was fun and not just super creepy.

Let’s not even get started on the gynecological inaccuracies of the game, but as the daughter of an OB/GYN you can trust me when I tell you they are vast. Even if the point of the app was somehow to teach kids about childbirth, skipping all parts of the life cycle and usual delivery methods and going straight to a poorly-researched and magically-executed C-section isn’t the way to do it.

And if the game isn’t aimed at children and education (and it doesn’t seem to be) then what the heck is the point? To try to promote thoughtless DIY surgeries? To remix Operation? To creep people out? If so, mission accomplished.
