After losing her leg to a rare illness, this woman posted the most inspiring bikini picture
This might be the most empowering bikini picture we’ve ever seen. TRUST.
28-year-old Aimee Copeland lost her right leg, left foot and both hands after contracting a flesh-eating bacteria in a 2012 zip-lining accident. But she hasn’t let these difficult and life-altering physical challenges define her or stop her from living her absolute best life. Copeland is working toward her second masters degree in social work. She has a thriving career as a motivational speaker and advocate for the differently abled. She also just recently fell in love. *heart eyes emojis*
Copeland also recently posted a beach picture to her Facebook page, and TBH it perfectly captures her amazing attitude and joyful spirit. It’s no wonder the post is going viral, with over 10,000 likes in just two days.
The photo shows Copeland rocking a colorful tie-dye bikini and a gigantic smile on the beach in Puerto Rico. She captioned the shot, “It has taken me a long time to become comfortable with and accept my new body. We are ALL made with imperfections and there is so much beauty in our flaws. The scars and skin grafting build character! It’s not about what you have — what you do with what you have is what really counts.”
We couldn’t agree more! YES. Yes to EVERYTHING she just said.
Props to Aimee for being such an inspiration to us all. Keep being amazing, queen.
