We ranked the 5 best ‘Annie’ songs because someone had to

Earlier in the week, Sia released her version of “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” for the upcoming Annie movie and the Internet went crazy with excitement. The movie, which stars Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis, is a new imagining of the classic story of a plucky, mistreated orphan who brings happiness everywhere she goes. It’s pretty much sure to be a GIANT holiday blockbuster and (OK, from this Annie super-fan’s perspective) the songs on the soundtrack have the potential to be the next “Let It Go.” Check out the music video for Sia’s song, with the little girls running around New York City on a “cloudy Tuesday” determined to make others around them smile (seriously, how does no one recognize the adorable Quvenzhané?)—it’s the sweetest and will make you smile too.

Sia lends her voice to a few other tracks on the Annie soundtrack, according to IMDB, and I really need to hear all of them. I love Sia, and I love Annie, and the two go amazingly hand-in-hand together. With “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” covered, literally, what are the next best songs to choose from?

5. “I Don’t Need Anything But You

One of the most perfect duets ever, “I Don’t Need Anything But You” is delightfully charming. Annie and Daddy Warbucks are finally a family, and clearly happy enough to break out into song. Yesterday was plain awful, but that’s not now, that’s then. If there’s one theme running throughout the entire show/musical/movie, it’s the hope of the future — and Annie’s hoping has finally paid off.

4. “Easy Street

Ever notice that a lot of Broadway musicals involve songs about money? “Easy Street” is another one of them, and yes it’s a scheme of Miss Hannagian’s to use Annie to their advantage when it comes to Daddy Warbucks. This song is great, because it is prime for a long musical interlude to be filled with an intricate dance number, preferably tap dancing. People usually tap dance when they sing about money. Naturally.

3. “Maybe

Little Annie muses about what her parents must be like, and what they’re doing right now, and how — maybe — their biggest mistake was giving her up. Try and get through the entire song without getting a little misty-eyed thinking about this little girl whose only dream in life is to have a true family. It’s also really impressive when a child under the age of like, 12, sings this song, because some of those notes are hard. I’m impressed, Annie. Sia, wanna try this one next?

2. “It’s A Hard Knock Life

As children, we learn this song at a very young age, if only to sing it when we’re sent to clean our rooms, empty the dishwasher, or take out the trash. But really, none of us had the hard knock life that Annie and the other orphans had to endure. Even though you might not admit it, you know all of the words to this song. You also probably know some of the iconic bucket choreography.

1. “Tomorrow

Hands down, this is the best song in Annie, because it’s about the unyielding hope of tomorrow. Annie even sings it herself — she loves tomorrow, because it’s only a day away. If that’s not a sunny outlook on life, I don’t know what is. Try and convince me that you’ve never had the worst day ever, and gone to bed knowing that tomorrow is just another day away. That’s because we learned it from Annie. This song gives me chills every time I listen to it. Also, Sandy the dog. ‘Nuff said.
