Rainbow Rowell is writing Marvel’s “Runaways” series, and this is the best news we’ll hear today
Calling all Runaways fans! We have some epic news for you! Not only are you getting a TV version of the comic book series but you’re also getting more comics coming at you. That’s right, more Runaways comics are coming and Rainbow Rowell will be writing them.
You’ve probably heard that Marvel is adapting the 2003 comic book series Runaways, which features a group of teens teaming up after they discover their parents are part of a secret organization for Hulu. But now the series is getting a comic book reboot as well with author Rainbow Rowell (Eleanor & Park) writing the series. Here’s what Rainbow told Entertainment Weekly about joining the Runaways team:
“This is my favorite Marvel book. When [editor Nick Lowe] first reached out to me a few years ago about maybe working for Marvel, it was the first thing I asked him about.
It’s always awesome when a fan of something gets to actually work on it. Ready to see the cover? Here’s a peek:
And don’t worry, Rainbow assured EW that the Runaways we know and love will still be there in the new series:
“It’s kind of like The Force Awakens, says Rowell. “When you go to see a Star Wars movie, you’re not gonna want them to totally shift everything up and give you a whole new universe. You want the Star Wars universe you love and then great stories inside of it. That’s how I feel about Runaways. I don’t need to do anything to them other than telling great stories with them.
Runaways will be on shelves in September 2017. So now’s the perfect time to re-read (or read for the first time) the original series and get pumped for this awesome upcoming reboot.
