Rachel McAdams is the ‘True Detective’ cast member we’ve been waiting for
We’ve been following the ever-evolving True Detective casting rumors since day one because A) we’re obsessed with True Detective (duh), and B) we’ve been holding out for a female lead, hoping and praying to the TV gods that the gossip was true —that maybe Elisabeth Moss or Rachel McAdams would be starring in the show and diversifying the all-male cast (aka, Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell).
Well, GUESS WHAT? Our dreams have come true! Rachel McAdams has officially been confirmed to play the lead role of Ani Bezzeridas, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective who is highly driven by her strict moral code and who battles with the infinitely corrupt legal system she works for. The internal struggles WILL BE SO REAL.
Rachel McAdams is one of my favorite, multifaceted actors ever, and I’m just so excited that she’s going to be a part of this brilliant series. I also think it’s super cool she’ll be given a really serious role like this one. She killed it as Irene Adler in Sherlock Holmes, and Allie in The Notebook, so I have no doubt she’s going to make one fierce lady detective.
HBO, you did good.
