Twitter can’t stop crying about Netflix’s “Queer Eye” reboot, and honestly, neither can we

Whether they’re overhauling a house, a sense of style, or a mindset, makeover shows in any form are undeniably appealing. And when the makeover show at hand features some fabulous mentors and inspirational pep talks, you’ve really got yourself a smash. Which could explain why people are so very emotional about (and very much obsessed with) Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot. It’s about so much more than makeovers; it’s about acceptance and love, two things this world desperately needs right about now.

Now, in case you’ve forgotten the details of the original show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy — don’t fret. I mean, it first aired back in 2003, so it’s definitely been a while. But basically, the show centers around five gay men, dubbed the Fab Five, as they help people find the self-confidence, skills, and know-how to be their best selves. As The New Yorker put it, even if you’re not fully paying attention, Netflix’s reboot of Queer Eye will have you feeling some type of way. “Half-watching any of its eight episodes, the viewer feels its aspirational anima infuse the room.”

The feeling was pretty mutual for Twitter, which has been raving about the Queer Eye reboot.

Just, so much love, so many emotions.

The Queer Eye reboot has, clearly, already inspired so many. Perhaps, in part, because the new takeisn’t about labels; it’s about bettering yourself however you can.

As one member of the new Fab Five, Tan France, put it, “The original show was fighting for tolerance. Our fight is for acceptance.” From Twitter’s response to the reboot, it’s clear that the show is making great strides. Netflix’s new Queer Eye is already getting people talking, and all up in their feels. And that definitely counts for something.

Queer Eye is now streaming, and if you haven’t watched yet, what are you waiting for???
