Antoni from Queer Eye is opening his own restaurant — but will there be avocados?
The Queer Eye Netflix reboot hasn’t been around for long, but in that time the Fab Five has blessed us all with laughs, tears, and delightfully snappy one-liners. And we officially have some amazing Queer Eye news: Antoni Porowski, the show’s resident chef, is opening his own restaurant in New York City.
At a June 19th panel hosted by Teen Vogue‘s Phillip Picardi, Antoni announced his plans to open a new fast-casual joint. As Food & Wine reported, after initially saying he wasn’t “supposed to talk about it,” the guru proceeded to spill the tea.

The foodie also revealed that he’s had jobs in the restaurant business that run the gamut from busboy to sommelier, while also speaking about his admiration for chefs.
"So I have experience more on the front-of-house side of things, but I’ve always had a strong reverence and a respect for chefs...I just thought of Bourdain," he said, getting a little choked up. "But, um, they’ve always been sort of like my rock stars and I’ve just always had a lot of respect for them, so for me I’ve always felt like I was sort of on the outside."

We still don’t know what Antoni’s menu will include (or if there will be any…creative avocado recipes). But as Vanity Fair pointed out, he used to cook for original Queer Eye for the Straight Guy food expert Ted Allen, so we’re pretty confident that whatever Antoni dreams up will be amazing.
If you can’t make it to NYC to dine at Antoni’s restaurant, you’ll still definitely be able to try out some of his favorite dishes for yourself. The guru’s cookbook is coming in spring 2019, and he’s promised that the 100 recipes contained within it will highlight “simple, healthy, visually appealing fare.”
We can’t wait to see what Antoni serves up at his restaurant. Road trip to NYC, anyone?
