Queen Elizabeth has been wearing the same nail polish shade since 1989 — and it’s only $9

Grandparents sometimes get stuck in their ways. Prince Harry and Prince William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is no different. For example, the Queen has worn the same shade of nail polish since 1989. No other color has touched her fingernails in the past 28 years!

This must be some nail polish, you’re probably thinking. It must contain flecks of gold and be blessed by angels, in order to have such a hold over the Queen of England, right? Well, no, actually.

Queen Elizabeth’s most beloved nail varnish is “Ballet Slippers” by Essie, which sells for a whopping $9 on Amazon.

According to the Essie website, Queen Elizabeth’s hairdresser wrote a letter to the renowned nail polish brand requesting a bottle of Ballet Slippers and calling it “the only color Her Majesty would wear.”

If we received a compliment like that, it would be on our resumé for the rest of our lives.

Ballet Slippers is an award-winning color and one of the best-selling shades on the Essie website. It’s a natural sheer pink that goes perfectly with any shade of pastel hat and matching dress and coat.

In fact, Queen Elizabeth must talk highly of Essie’s nail polish to the rest of the royal family because the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, donned Essie-painted nails for her wedding day!

With this information at our fingertips, we are one step — or rather, one shade — closer to living as the royals do. You can pick up your own bottle of “Ballet Slippers” at your local drugstore, or online via the Essie website for $9.

But act fast before Queen Elizabeth drains Essie of their Ballet Slippers inventory!
