Queen Elizabeth always travels with this dessert, because she’s doing this Queen thing right
Being the Queen must be awesome, because you can basically eat whatever you want. And apparently, Queen Elizabeth’s food choices are, well, just like ours. According to royal chef Darren McGrady—who has cooked for the Queen of England for 15 years—she is very fond of a certain sweet treat.
Queen Elizabeth LOVES chocolate biscuit cake.
So much so, that entire desserts will follow her around until she has eaten the last slice.
Seriously—if she’s on her way to, say, Windsor Castle, the half-eaten sweet will travel along with a senior chef. So when the queen arrives, she can have her cake and eat it too. Can you think of a more boss move?
"Now the chocolate biscuit cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again everyday until it's all gone," Darren tells Recipes Plus. "She'll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake."
When it comes to the rest of her diet, Queen E is kind of picky. She doesn’t really eat starchy carbs like pasta or potatoes unless she’s at a state dinner. Otherwise, she defaults to healthy standbys like grilled fish or chicken with two types of vegetables. Other royal favorites are salads and fresh fruit.
As for seasoning, the Queen prefers to keep it simple.
"We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions," McGrady says.
With that much cake on the menu, it’s not surprising that she’d want to keep the rest of her diet pared down—besides, isn’t it all just a formality to get to that cake?
Who knew royalty could be so relatable?!
