A Qdoba fast-food employee’s act of kindness was caught on video, and it’s amazing
Sometimes, it’s the littlest acts of kindness that can go the longest distance. Take the case with Ridge Quarles, who works at a Qdoba in Louisville, Kentucky. Ridge has worked at Qdoba for five and a half years, and now, his simple-yet-beautiful gesture towards a regular at their restaurant was caught on video, and it’s since gone viral.
The regular, whose name we do not know, is a woman with a disability who is often dropped off by a TARC bus that helps people with disabilities, according to WAVE3. “She didn’t get out of her house very often, but whenever she did, she always told me, ‘Ridge, this is my most favorite place to eat!’” Ridge, pictured below, explained to WAVE3. “Sadly enough, she has to sit outside the restaurant until someone notices her or another customer that’s coming in has to let her into the building.”
She had been in so many times that Ridge knew what she liked to eat: for lunch, a taco salad with hot sauce and cheese; for dinner, a burrito with hot sauce and cheese. “I had helped her through [the] line and sat her out in the lobby, got her a drink, got her utensils and napkin and kind of started to walk off,” Ridge explained to WAVE3, “and I was like, you know, ‘Is there anything else I can help you with?’ and she turned around and she was like, ‘Sir, if you don’t mind could you help me eat?’”
To Ridge, it was just a few minutes out of his day. “I mean, she needs help and if I wasn’t going to do it, no one was,” he explained to WAVE3. “Who else is going to do it?”
Little did Ridge know, another customer, Dr. David Jones, was watching. “He didn’t stop to think about, ‘Well, should I help her, should I not,’ he just went over, put the gloves on and started feeding her,” said Dr. Jones. “. . . It seems to me that if everybody in the world would just use the little simple gift that they have to maybe benefit somebody else, think what the world would be like.”
Our hearts might burst, TBH. Ridge has since left Qdoba, but we have a feeling that his impact will last for quite a long time. . . and it’s just a lovely reminder for us to give to others, without question.
