We have a little bit of bad news about the Pumpkin Spice Latte
Remember when we told you about the new ingredient in Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte? It got us pretty pumped, and for good reason, because traditionally, we’d only have to wait about another week or so before getting our hands on the delicious fall treat. Well, not this year.
While last year’s early release was August 26th, with lucky PSL fans getting access through rewards or an online scavenger hunt — this year, the earliest you’ll be slurping that Pumpkiny-goodness is September 4th, with the full release rolling out nationwide on September 8th.
What? They tease us with the promise of real pumpkin puree, and then dangle it just out of reach?! This devastating news is according to multiple Starbucks employees across the country, although official representatives didn’t respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.
A possible explanation for all this is that Labor Day, which traditionally marks the switch from summer fun to a cool autumn breeze, also comes a bit later in the 2015 calendar, with the PSL release slated for the day after. It also could be something to do with the fact that we have a tendency to be a little too eager for these things (Christmas decorations in October, anyone?) and this makes us slow our roll a little bit and appreciate what we have.
As much as I want to be holding a red Starbucks cup, sipping that perfect warm pumpkin deliciousness while snuggled in a scarf, it is still the middle of August, after-all. Let’s take advantage of these extra days by soaking up the last rays of summer before diving into the new season. And rest assured, when the day finally arrives, and orders of “one venti Pumpkin Spice Latter please!” can be heard across the land, it will have been worth the wait.
